Yorkshire Dales
LYD006 - Limestone Pavement and Wherneside
Like old bones etched into the limestone. Southerscales limestone pavement looks out towards Wherneside one of the three highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales.
LYD001 - Water Energy and Flow, Scalaber Force
Scalaber Force is a hidden gem of a waterfall. Located just above the beautiful village of Settle in the Yorkshire Dales

LYD005 - Wherneside from Southerscales
Southerscales is located very close to the Ribble Head Viaduct. It is one of the areas of unique limestone pavement in the Yorkshire Dales. Here sidelight from the late afternoon sun is illuminating both Wherneside and the limestone.
LYD007 - Lone Hawthorn and Limestone Pavement, Southerscales
A gnarled and twisted hawthorn tree grows out of the limestone pavement at Southerscales. The late afternoon light catches both the limestone and tree alike.
LYD009 - Wherneside and Limestone Pavement
The cracked and eroded fissures in the limestone pavement prove to be perfect lead-in lines drawing the eye through the image to Wherneside in the distance.

LYD014 - Hawthorn and Limestone Pavement
The weather had been awful all day. Fortuitously a break in the clouds and some sunshine happened just as I was passing this hawthorn tree growing out of an isolated area of limestone pavement.

LYD016 - Patchwork Countryside, Swaledale
Dry stone walls crisscross the Swaledale countryside making for some interesting if not abstract shapes.
LYD017 - Stone Walls and Barns, Gunnerside
LYD018 - Wain Wrath Falls, River Swale
LYD019 -Wain Wrath Falls, River Swale
The Wain Wrath Falls are located about a half mile past the village of Keld in Swale Dale. The name of the waterfalls means wagon ford waterfall which must mean that a ford was nearby at one time or another.
LYD020 - Late Afternoon Sun, Upper Swaledale
As you progress through Swaledale and past Keld the landscape changes and becomes more rugged and isolated.
LYD021 - Scaleber Force
LYD022 - Woodland Grotto, Janets Foss
Janet's Foss is a plunge waterfall situated near the village of Malham at the point where Gordale Beck drops down into Wedber Wood. It is named after a supposed Fairy Queen who lived in the cave behind the waterfall.
LYD026 - Water Movement and Flow, West Burton Falls
Also known as the Cauldren Falls, located a short walk from the village of West Burton
LYD028 - Reflections, West Burton Falls, Wenslydale
LYD007 - Lone Hawthorn and Limestone Pavement, Souther Scales
Probably my favorite photograph from this photo trip. I caught the last of the light from the sun as it set, gently highlighting the lone hawthorn tree growing out of the limestone and Wherneside in the distance.
